We are dedicated to championing human rights and social justice, particularly for marginalized groups such as women, youth, and refugees. To further our mission, we are seeking three dynamic Ugandan Human Rights Lawyers who possess a strong commitment to social equity and community empowerment. Our ideal candidates will have at least three years of experience, preferably in a civil society environment, where their legal expertise has contributed to meaningful change in the lives of those they serve. A solid understanding of key Ugandan laws is essential for these roles, particularly the Human Rights Enforcement Act of 2019 and the Small Claims Procedure. We value self-driven and motivated individuals with creative problem-solving skills that enable them to navigate complex legal challenges with passion. Excellent communication skills are critical, as our lawyers will engage with diverse stakeholders, advocate for clients’ rights, and effectively disseminate vital information about legal protections available to marginalized communities. In addition to strong legal knowledge, familiarity with regional and international laws regarding the employment rights of citizens and refugees is crucial. Our lawyers must understand the broader social context influencing human rights in Uganda and East Africa to facilitate informed advocacy on behalf of our clients. A practicing certificate will be considered an added advantage, reinforcing the professional credibility that is indispensable in legal advocacy and representation. If you are eager to make a significant impact in the lives of marginalized groups and have a passion for advancing justice and human rights, we invite you to submit your CV and cover letter in a single PDF document to hello@ifancy.org. The application deadline is April 15, 2025.
